It was as it was when the pair had first met - both snarling, baring their fangs at each other, neither one willing to back down. Both were as subborn and proud as the other and it had led to a number of vicious, dangerous confrontations already. This was no different. Kai stared at the two-toned female, knowing that any affection or love she held for him had fled for now. Frustration and rage had replaced any feelings she carried towards the black male and Kai could see it in her eyes. It was that that made his low, deadly snarl fade in his throat, seeing the absolute lack of anything for him. Usually, during these sorts of battles between them, they both got wound up, trying to overcome the other, but eventually, just as they looked like they were about to launch themselves at each other in a fatal attack, Kai gave in to the sexual energy that fizzled between them. But not this time. This time, it was pure aggression, pure hate.

His chest heaved with every breath as he continued watching Axelle as she pulled away and began examining weapons. Kai was pumped full of adrenaline now, and he half expected Axelle to toss the blade she looked at right at him. Hearing her answer, that she wanted to go alone, he snorted in reply. Of course she did - did he think she would want him going along with her now?

He had brought this on himself, so he only had himself to blame. If he hadn't have acted in usual Kai style, perhaps Axelle wouldn't be so mad with him, perhaps she would let him touch her, perhaps she would want him to accompany her when she went after her father. But she was mad with him and there was no way she would want him going with her to the handover. Of course, Kai would go anyway, whether Axelle wanted him to or not. He would follow her, watch from a distance, to ensure she was safe. Tyko was going to be pissed enough with the fact his slave had been injured and taken in the first place.

As Axelle called him 'Darling', the word and her tone carried no affection, no care. Only bitterness and sarcasm, and it made Kai snort once more. His eyes angled down to the paper she tied, hearing her ask nicely if he would take it to the crows. His body was still tense, but he snatched the paper from her hand and with a heavy snort without looking at it before he turned and headed towards the mouth of Axelle's cave, glancing over his shoulder at the female as she told him to return quickly as she needed to talk to him. He froze - that was what he had been afraid of. That was Axelle, telling him that they weren't right for each other, that she didn't want him anymore, that it couldn't work between them. And all of a sudden, the moody, aggressive savage male in him faded. Kai didn't have much in the world, but he had Axelle and that was enough for him. Without her, he had nothing, and the thought of her stepping back from him was something to fear. He paused at the door, knowing that when he returned, she would tell him it was over, he would lose her. Eventually, he left Axelle's den and made his way towards the crows in order to do as she had asked him, to send the message she had written to the slave's master, her father. Kai knew of her hatred of him, knew she wanted him dead. There was no way he wasn't going with her, whether she knew it or not.

After competing his task with the crows, Kai slowly headed back towards Axelle's den, half expecting her to have already gone, unable to stand the sight of him anymore.
