It was like something calling her out of her sleep. Axelle’s eyes just popped open. She saw that Abella was already sitting up and carefully stretching, and Axelle did the same, though she didn’t need to be careful about the muscles she popped back into place. It was ‘go time’. Axelle originally went to sleep fully equipped with weapons and such, all she needed was Couer and Abella to make this complete. Axelle rose from the human bed while the coyote still sat there blinking. ”Did you sleep good?” She was sure the girl probably slept better than she had in a long time knowing that she was safe, as well as in a comfortable bed. Abella nodded, but didn’t say anything. She stood carefully, and stretched every other muscle as well.
Axelle moved over to the wall and placed the belt she originally had around her waist, back. She didn’t need it. All she needed was her dagger, her claws, her brain, and her various fighting skills. She was set. Couer and Kai were probably waiting for them outside, and she had Abella. So everything was set in motion. The black and white female couldn’t even think about food for herself, but gave a big slab of meat to Abella to chew on while they walked to the horse.
The cave’s corridors seemed exceptionally longer than usual, but they eventually began to see the light of outside. It was dim light, but it was a lot brighter than inside the caves. Axelle’s eyes had to adjust, and she squinted once she walked out into the daylight, but quickly recovered. Seeing that Kai had saddled up Couer was a treat, though she never rode with a saddle before. Maybe it would be easier.
She used her left leg to step up on the stirrup and swing her right leg up over the large horse. Her rump fit well in the Luperci-made saddle, and she instantly realized that the ride couldn’t be that bad. Couer snorted a greeting to his master, and Axelle patted his neck. Then she looked down at Malakai, ”Thank you. Can you help her on please?” Axelle waited for her man to help Abella on, and when the slave was situated, Axelle turned to her over her shoulder. ”Grab my waist, girl. This is going to be a bumpy ride.” Then she turned back to Kai, ”I will be alright. Stay close, and stay alert. I will call for you when it’s over.” She didn't mention anything about getting hurt because she believed this to be impossible. She would not go down without a fight, and would not need him to come save her again. She would be alright. Then she kissed her hand and blew him a kiss, dipped her head toward him, and nudged Couer with her heels. He obviously sensed her urgency because he broke off in a run towards the borders. The trio was gone in a few minutes, out of sight toward the battlefield.
