Out of Character

In Character

He could hear his heart pounding in his ears. Sheer surges of adrenaline pulsed throughout him as he "braved" the weather. Though, his behavior did not show any sort of courage at all. Helios stood hunched, too afraid to move and soaked to the skin from the pelting rain. Bullied by the wind, he felt himself too weak to even move. He wondered how he even came to where he stood, exposed and bare on an open street in which ancient sprawled but were not filled with water. He had gone to find his sister, who had no doubt been smarter than him in this weather, taken precautions or even just simply shelter. The Australian Shepherd would have cursed his actions if his mind would have complied.

In his frozen fear, he had drawn his father's sword as if to ward off his terrors. The glinting steel proved only to be dangerous and volatile in the frenzied gale that surrounded him. A livid cut stood out on his leg where a gust of wind had whipped the one handed blade into his thigh. Helios was simply too numb to feel the pain but he had stared as the blood ran through her reddish fur and pooled at his foot. When his injury dawned on him, he made a hasty gesture to sheath the sword, though his shakiness caused him to gash his left hand and drop the sword entirely. The shepherd meekly watched it skitter across the ground, heralded by wind and water.

The Australian Shepherd pursued on instinct, feeling the full extent of his fear when his knees almost fell from under him. Winds battered him mercilessly and the raging heavens laughed at his humiliating of fear as he finally grasped the hilt and safely returned it to its sheath. Wearied by the pursuit, he had the inclination to sleep where he crouched, almost more exposed than he was before. He would have had he not heard the sound of a horse. Helios Kowl had very rarely had experience with horses, in his life time he had only seen a few. Though, lately, horses had brought pleasant enough experiences with him. Glancing at the glowering sky, he followed the terrified sound, in a half-crouched run as the pelting rain blinded him. The sound had brought him to a building that within held a horse that was lashing out in what Helios' believed was fear. The canine recoiled but was hit by a blast of wind that drove him into the more sheltered home with pure necessity. Helios was still terrified though, the screaming storm at his back and a terrified horse at his front, he had very few options.
