So they had. Against all logic they were choosing to raise a fox kit as a pup. He didn't think it would work. Foxes and wolves were different. Sooner or later the fox would begin to act like a fox, and at that point they would no longer be able to keep it. It was tragic. If the fox would help Palaydrian through that grief, so be it. Tharin hadn't witnessed such a thing before, but he could understand it, if not realize that Jiva was personally attached.
Asked why he was muddy Tharin looked away. There was a reason for it, a good reason. He just didn't want to face the eventuality that he would have to wash his coat off and make it clean again. It was a nuisance to have to deal with. I was entertaining Saki and slipped. His words were slightly stilted as he spoke, hesitant in telling the truth and worried about what Jiva would think of the gamma making such a slip up.
