The mutt’s eyes went wide in light of the realization, the dam was giving away and he was still on it. He knew how cold the water was, and he really didn’t want to be in it. The male made a quick leap for the bank. The river obstruction was swept away by the built up pressure beneath him. He made it to the river bank but he slipped on the muddy slope, submerging his lower half. The water was nearly freezing; the shock was enough to cause a distressed sound to escape his mouth. It wasn’t quite a cry but a high pitched groan uncommon to wolves.
His hackles stood from the experience. Cold and uncomfortable he shivered; glad they were done with the blasted task.
