I threw a wish in the well

Just as her greeting was finished, other wolves came. Sky was the first to arrive after Kiara, who had stepped back to allow the Delta room. Kiara watched Sky and offered an equally friendly hello when the tawny female approached. For a brief moment, the arctic female wondered if the other's would comment about her and Tharin. What would they think? Would they even notice? Kiara and Tharin normally stuck to one another so they usually smelled like each other anyways. But, with their recent mateship approved and consummated, perhaps she smelled more like Tharin than usual. Sky said nothing and didn't seem to react, her mind on more important matters.

Without realizing it, Kiara had been holding her breath and let it loose in a long stream. The heat scented female made her nervous and Kiara couldn't help but feel on edge around her. Shuffling her feet, the arctic female tried to get comfortable as Zalen approached. With the Alpha present, the epsilon lowered her ears respectfully and gave the large wolf a greeting lick as he rubbed against her. After Zalen came a white wolf that Kiara did not recognize. His scent was that of the pack that had come to trade, one of the more human packs in Nova Scotia. Kiara eyed the male with interest for a moment as she wondered about his pack and way of life.

All of her curiosity for the stranger left as Tharin and Saki arrived in the meeting. Saki was still hobbling and Kiara couldn't help but feel her heart break. Standing, Kiara moved to Tharin's side and nuzzled both her mate and Saki affectionately before settling back down on a soft patch of earth. With the gathering place full of curious and worried wolves, Noah began to speak. Another wolf was missing.

The news hit home for Kiara and her chest tightened. Resting her large head on her paws, Kiara's thoughts trailed to her son. Kohaku was still out there, with Amy and away from his rightful place. She had been given a chance to bring him back, but had been less than useless on that mission. Now Noah's mother was missing and Kiara felt that same feeling of helplessness return. Rising her head at the call for action, Kiara spoke. "I can talk to the coyotes of Inferni. See if any of them have seen her."
