After everything, Skoll had wanted to get out of the house where the scent of death yet lingered after the vicious storm. He’d been stuck in the hotel for the duration of the hurricane, where he’d done his best to tend to his pack mates there, and ever since then he hadn’t bothered to leave. Eventually the young man had left only to bring his precious few belongings from his childhood room in the Lunenburg house to the room on the first floor of the hotel, which was still sparse save for the bookshelf he’d dragged in from another room. He knew he’d make a mark on the room as he grew older, though; there was still plenty of time for him to heal from everything that had happened in his life and walk his intended path.
What that path was, God only knew, but he wouldn’t shy away from it or rush it like he did before; he was going to take it at a tartigrade but steady pace and show his family that he was deserving of his heritage.
The blond wolfdog walked from the first floor wing and out of the lobby, hoping to take Hwin out riding now that the land was recovering from the storm; he’d been nervous about her injuring a leg while everything was still muddy. Maybe he’d ride into the wilderness and bring back a deer. The image of a doe slung across the bay mare’s hindquarters made him smile, but as he opened the main doors of the hotel, he saw a reddish form on the porch. His half-sister sat and stroked her stunted tail, silent and maybe thoughtful. Though he hadn’t thought much of her before, she was still family and had still lost a mother as he had.
“Hello, Amaranth,” Skoll greeted, and leaned awkwardly against one of the porch’s posts looking at her.
