(346)Axelle and Couer rode through Halifax, waiting for Mido to arrive. She wasn’t sure which way he would come from, so she halted Couer and sat atop him waiting for her friend and former fellow warrior. The day was breezy, a light breeze – and scenting his smell on that very same breeze told her that he would be there soon. The sun was at the top of the sky beaming down on them. Fall was here, and Axelle could feel the outer fringes of winter starting to nip at her body. The winter seemed it would be a cold one…
This had been the first time that she had shifted out of Secui in two months. The reason she stayed in that form that long was sentimental to her, and on the contrary – she didn’t exactly know why she remained due to that very reason. Her mother never weighed so much on her decisions before, even when she was alive, but now it seemed to bother her way more than it should have.
Couer snorted and shifted, and Axelle looked around. They would be scavenging for weapons today… to refill Anathema’s storages. All the good weapons were swept away by the floods, and she silently wondered if any were recovered around the territory. They couldn’t have been carried that far. Whatever was Mido’s reason for coming out here, Axelle respected it. He was a higher place than she was now and whether she liked it or not – she had to respect it. And she wanted to.
Axelle was strapped and ready to go. She had her dagger strapped to the side of her thigh, and had the crossbow slung over her back with three ready arrows – just in case. She was well aware of what they could come across while being in Halifax. Even though she thought of it as a safe abandoned town before, she thought of it a lot different now because of the situation that happened to her and Kai a while back. She just hoped Mido was as expectant as she was.
