I'll break through the irony

She thought of loading poor Couer up with all these heavy weapons, and the thought didn’t even dawn on her – Mido brought a wagon! She didn’t need to bother with any of that, and if she would’ve really used her noggin – she could’ve brought the wagon that she took home from Halifax. That’s what she stored it in the stables for… and it might have carried a lot more things than Mido’s wagon could. Axelle slowed Couer down a bit as they rounded a corner, and halted him altogether at the intersection. She turned to face Mido, ”Alright. Yeah, this way.” And then she nudged Couer and steered him right.

The horse’s head bobbed comfortably as she rode him down the cracked street. Axelle scanned the stores to her left and right and pointed across the street at an antique shop, ”Maybe you should take a peek in there. They might have some old swords and things that we can use…. And maybe take a look in that hardware store next to it.” The hardware store sat next to the antique shop – weird combination. Old people and construction workers. Axelle knew where she was going. She knew the weapons shop was only a little bit down the road. ”After you’re done in there – come find me in the weapons shop up ahead.” She was sure they could ransack the place. She needed more arrows for her crossbow anyway.

She nodded toward Mido, and urged Couer forward. They trotted about 10 feet ahead before she halted him again, and carefully slid off of the saddle. She tied the horse to an old parking meter, and approached the old storefront. There was broken glass, like the last time she had visited, on the floor and the store was a mess, but there were a lot of things still left on the walls and shelves. There was an upstairs too, from the looks of the stairs behind the cashier’s counter, but she never went up there. She had no idea whether it was a goldmine full of weapons or an empty, cobwebbed space up there.
