His tight embrace enveloped her. Terra enjoyed his grip, strong enough to crush her if he chose to but holding her up instead. Placed back on the ground her tail swayed, noting how nervous he was. Something had happened with the deer. She could smell that it was Moss' kill. Terra might have assumed he'd poached it otherwise as it was so different from his typical. Had he lost control in some way to damage the deer in such a manner? He took her joke seriously, trying to pass it off as an excuse for the deer's condition. Shaking her head Terra sniffed the air, focusing on the strangeness.
She could feel his hand on her arm keeping her from fleeing. What was that? It wasn't alive. It was unnatural. It shouldn't be there. Terra flinched as another warm hand touched her, panicking. Briefly she struggled to get away, tugging a little before her eyes turned to him. His words lacked any steadiness to them, carrying a desperation of it's own. What is it? What was that thing? Why was it there, staring at her? None of it's calm stance transferred over to Terra, too involved in the fact that it wasn't supposed to be there. Moss' words brought her attention to him. What was he saying?
You know it? How could he know it? Moss' words only worsened the situation. Everyone ran from it, of course they did. How could they not? Why hadn't Moss? What did he know of that thing? Her tension eased as the spirit disappeared, both pups whimpering. Terra's eyes met Moss'. She couldn't stop shivering. She had seen a monster, and Moss knew it.
