The arctic female slept peacefully in her corner of the communal den, blissfully unaware of the events that had transpired. Lucia was close by, her own white form seamlessly blending into Kiara. Kiara awoke briefly when Zalen passed by, her eyes fluttering open for a brief moment. The daylight slipped into the cavern, blinding the half-asleep wolf for a moment. Groaning, Kiara turned around and tucked her nose under her tail before sliding back into the dreamworld.
A whining howl snapped the young mother out of her dreams. Kiara jerked her head up, both ears twitching as her nose took in the morning scents. That was when it hit her, blood. The scent of blood, and intruder, and Amy floated on the air and Zalen's distress only made Kiara fear the worse. With her nose, she prodded Lucia awake. The pup looked up at her mother, sleep heavy in Lucia's eyes as she silently questioned what was happening. Kiara just shook her head, unsure herself of what had transpired. Kiara took the lead, and stepped out of the communal den to find a disheveled Alpha. Lucia, quick on her mother's heels, stood beside Kiara and looked inquisitively at the adults.
There was clear fear and anger burning in the large luperci's eyes. Cautiously, Kiara stepped forward to greet Zalen; her ears, tail, and body low and she stepped up to lick his muzzle. Lucia followed behind her mother, mimicking the arctic wolf's actions. Zalen, I smell blood and... her. What happened?
