Tharin had been comfortably tucked into the den with Kiara and Lucias. He had partly woken in the night when the intruder came through, but he had simply fallen into a deeper sleep. He didn't realize what had happened. The piercing cry that woke him brought Kiara up as well. There was trouble. Immediately he left the den. Standing at Zalen's side he whined, looking around the area. An intruder had slipped in, and he hadn't noticed at all. How could he have not sensed the stranger walking through their pack?
Stiff he examined it. The path headed out of the pack. He might not have been so worried if it wasn't for the fact that blood intermingled. Where's Adonia? He knew the female well enough to know that it was her blood that had been spilled. He could smell Amy just as Kiara did. Hadn't that dog learned her lesson when they'd broken her arm? If only they'd managed to kill her that time, and not just injure her.
