Despite his confidence, Phoenix still slipped; he didn’t obviously didn’t know how to pin someone down properly and soon felt punishment for it. Resisting the urge to clutch at his throbbing privates, Phoenix braced himself, expecting the fight to resume once again. When Gabriel instead rushed to Faolin’s side, Phoenix allowed him. He didn’t want to fight the leader of Inferni; not now, not five minute ago. The telepath dipped his head down when he heard Faolin trying to speak to him once again and listened this time, nodding in agreement. He was just glad this was over and that he’d survived. Gabriel, he didn’t really care about.

Wearily Phoenix rose to hi feet. Already the adrenaline rush was starting to wear off and suddenly he felt tired. He couldn’t slow down his breathing and his heart galloped in his ribcage. He was about to turn around and leave when the madman’s final words sunk in, and all of a sudden Phoenix finally pieced together what this was about. “Wait, you think Faolin and I…?” he said aloud, stabbing a finger in his direction. It was a ridiculous notion… at least in Phoenix’s mind. He had a mate of his own back at home: the one love of his life. He could never bring himself to betray her. And her mate should have known that Faolin was not dishonorable either. “Fool,” he spat. With that final insult hurled, Phoenix spun around and stalked off home to nurse the wounds he had just received… over a horrible misunderstanding.
