Jefferson's scarred and battered jowls twisted into a sarcastically delighted little grin, amused by the stranger's decent sense of humor. For a moment the male was relieved that she was of no [apparent] threat and simply a passerby, but his awakening senses whispered of a foreign scent, that of one he whiffed of nearby territories. His experience as a loner was plenty to tell him who was or was not walking the trails alone simply by their smell--and this one reeked of something else. Jefferson wasn't exactly the unfriendly type--he was not always in the mood for some folks, but still had a general amiable sway in life--but questioning strangers at the borders and such was one of his duties, and with a shrug of sheer indifference he stepped up a bit, head held high.

He had yet to meet many of his own pack members, but the thought of other packs on Phoenix Valley's lands hadn't yet crossed his mind. Still a bit new to the lands, Jefferson wasn't exactly in tune with alliances or enemies, but at the same time, he really didn't care. "Unfortunately, regulations require me to find out why you're here." His head tipped to the side slightly--the hybrid was harmless, yes, but his wits were tools instead. "Have a name?"
