At least when I was sleeping around no one ever carried my child, other than my mate. That was like a slap in the face. She eyed him for a long time. "When I slept with him our mateship was already over, whether we admitted it or not. When I got pregnant with him, you were gone, and our mateship was long disolved." His next words made her feel a gentle wave of relief. At least she didn't have to make that choice.

"I never asked you to play father to these pups. I won't ask anyone to play father to them, except perhaps their actual father. If he so chooses. If not, I can and will be both mother and father, I have no problem with that."
