It was times like these that Beppe felt he had more power over his mother than she did over him, despite the omnipotent image she had. He knew that without his vague, scattered translations, she would likely not be able to find somewhere to stay. It was too cold here to live on your own, too, and though he had been expecting her answer it stung him a little. Una nuova casa. Beppe had only really had a home once, and finding a new one felt too much like replacing it. His mother had better learn at least a speck of English, he thought.


Offering a tentative half-smile to his mother, the boy turned back to the other and smiled a little again. "Pleased to meet you," he said, and nodded, before continuing. "She is saying we need a new home." For a moment his eyes escaped from the snow before Jasper's paws and he stared into the shrouded sky. "Is this the pack?" He didn't see much of anything, but he knew the fog could hide things.
