and i've been waiting for the sun

Perhaps it was just the cold, but Beppe felt vaguely numb to what was going on. He couldn't say that he was only the messenger, because he was the one with the future of both him and his mother, but he seemed to be watching from afar, detached from the situation. It was the shock of taking a great leap away from what he knew, perhaps. To have a very large interconnected family was in his blood, but even before he was born his parents had run off, alone. He knew little of what was tradition, and so going from a tiny group of two to what must be a large pack was still strange. It felt like replacing.

The question that the other asked was pleasing, generous. He hoped that the rest of the wolves around here would be this patient with his poor English. He thought for a moment to make sure that he wasn't misunderstanding this somewhat indirect offer, and then, without turning to his mother -- he knew what would be right for them -- Beppe replied, "Yes, please. That is nice. Yes, she is my mother." He smiled a bit.

The young wolf thought a bit longer on the next question, partly because he had to take a moment to decipher some of the more unfamiliar words and clear out some of the extraneous ones, and partly because self-reflection wasn't something he had done much of lately. 'Skills' wasn't quite a word he was clear on, but he got the gist of the question. "We are competant hunters, we have to because we are alone. Also we get by well at solving the problems." This seemed like a bit of a test, and Beppe wasn't sure how much of his character he should let leak in. He refrained himself a little, eying the ground. The boy hadn't been around others enough to develop a sense of it yet; he had spent all the bits of life he could remember hiding in dark corners of ships. The blinding sun reflecting off the snow was definitely a shock. All of this was a shock.

After a moment he looked back to his mother; surely she would have something to say about this, and besides, he had been neglecting her on the updates. "Sì, questo è un branco. Ci offre una casa, e vuole conoscere che gli diamo. Come possiamo aiutare." He smiled at her, weakly, and his tail flopped slowly.
