OoC: Making up for previous short post. xD lawl

Garnet had never had much of an ‘educational’ upbringing. Sure, the coyote had an okay vocabulary, but no one had ever taught her how to read or write. It was both embarrassing and frustrating to not know how to read around Jaz because the large wolf was so skilled at both. Maybe, once she had joined Crimson Dreams officially, she could ask Naniko or even Jaz to teach her.

The female coyote was snapped back into the present when she realized that Nani had been talking about fish for at least little while. She managed to catch the bit about a fish having whiskers, an image that Garnet found quiet amusing. Somehow, that also turned into an image of Naniko with long, cat-like whiskers which made the coyote snort softly. Of course, she wrinkled her nose slightly at the mention of worms. It wasn’t that the girl was squeamish, more that she remembered her time when it was just her and her sister when they were no more than pups. At the time, they didn’t really have much skill or size to catch much else besides mice; a lot of times they had resorted to eating bugs and insects.

Garnet twitched her dark ears as she heard the small voice of Naniko’s pup. Red eyes peered into the waters near the boy, and she saw the fish that he and Nani must have been talking about. ”Cat-fish, huh?” She said lightly, testing out the child’s new word. Of course, she was a bit surprised when the white she-wolf suddenly handed her a pole, must be the fishing-pole, and took out a jar of something that looked like yellow pebbles. She took one out of the jar and carefully put it through the hook. The coyote wasn’t so sure about this whole fishing thing, but why not give it a try?

Garnet dipped the hooked end of the pole into the water and waited. It wasn’t long till a fish swam up and tugged at the hook. The lady pulled the pole dramatically and came up with nothing. She looked blankly at the empty hook for a while before she grabbed a handful of corn and re-baited it. After a few more times of the fish getting food and she getting nothing, the coyote had put a couple bits of corn on the hook now and was waiting eagerly, watching as a fish swam to her hook. The coyote waited until he had grabbed at the corn before she wrenched the fish out of the water. Success! The fish was on the hook this time, and Garnet’s eyes sparkled as she reached to grab her hard-earned prize. Unfortunately, the fish gave a tremendous kick of its tail and dropped back into the water with a plop. The female coyote blazed with anger and began to whack the water with her pole as if she was lashing it. ”Damned fish! Die!”

After a few minutes of splashing around and achieving nothing but getting wet, Garnet walked away from the lake shore and looked at Naniko, dripping water from her dark coat. ”Maybe I should try the net…”
