soul without a heart

The winds that whipped across their lands brought her all kinds of news, from the fact that the cattle were well and content in the field, that the half wild horses were nervous, their nickering calls strong as they moved across the padlock, as well there seemed to be the scent of another on the way. She raised her head as the scent crossed her muzzle and before she could even stop herself she opened her eyes and tried to catch sight of the lady. Her shoulders sagged as she was brought to realize once more that she couldn't see anylonger. A bitter little thought crossed her mind, wondering how long it was going to take before she stopped trying to see what was right before her.. before it wasn't ingrained behavior. She'd never had to unlearn something and she wasn't sure if she was ready to try.

Her mind had drawn her offtrack of the fact that she knew someone was there but before she could even attempt to try and figure out who was there in the snow a voice called out. Iskata relaxed slightly as she nudged the puppy back under the blankets that had been left there. She knew that Zana should be outside but no one else was home to watch after her so it seemed the mother actually had to play her part though there was little she could do to help the child if anything happened. She shook her head after a moment in answer to the lady she couldn't see. "No..." she said. The answer to both question. She obviously wasn't alright but there was nothing she could do either.

Iskata tilted her head to the side and asked quietly. "What are you doing here?" She had no real clue who the woman was, the scent was one she knew but there was no face to place it with and her memory wasn't strong enough to work off one sense alone. She hated these new changes in her life and how helpless they made her feel. She only hoped that the woman wasn't one that in the past she had hoped she'd never meet again.
