The brute's mind wandered in all directions, from his first few steps on Phoenix Valley lands, to lecturing Pendzez, to staring uncomfortably at Cercelee in the rain, to meeting his half-sibling Haku and his non-sibling Laruku. To teaching Tyrone how to fish, to snapping at Lucifer, to making peace with Deuce. ...To carrying Iskata's bleeding, beaten body to safety and worrying what might happen. To here, to now. Months had become a whirlwind and a blur, forever moving and never stopping; it was times like these when he was able to retreat away from the world that he found the time to relax and simply think--he hadn't had chance to stop and muse and explore things in his mind anymore, for all his decisions now were made impulsively. He had no choice. He'd allowed Kasch Anubi to join them in Phoenix Valley off impulse and because he was a child with nowhere else to go. Jefferson had known that feeling once. Somehow, he assumed Iskata was feeling the same way.

It was a small movement in the window that stirred his eye from the burning embers of the hearth, at which point his green-hued vision laid upon the stumbling ex-leader and her granddaughter out in the snow in his direct line of vision. His ears perked, his back straightened. "The hell...?" he muttered to himself busily and quickly pushed himself to his feet and out the door, grabbing a blanket left idly on the floor near the exit. He stepped out quickly into the snow, grateful that he was shifted and able to move faster. "What are you doing out here?" He said as he neared her and Skylar, quickly draping the blanket one-handedly over Iskata's shoulder and placing a hand on her back to direct her towards the door. "It's goddamn freezing out here. There's a fire going inside." He sighed to himself, scowling the same old scowl, and nodded to Skylar when she held the door open and he pushed the sightless woman inside where the warmth overwhelmed. He was aware that she was probably on her way to the barn, little by little, where she could hide away... at that, he sniffed and scratched at his head before leading her to his chair by the fire. "The barn's not any warmer than it is outside right now," he remarked. "The temperature's below zero. Why are you out walking around in the cold?" He stood before her, casting a sarcastically suspicious look at Skylar for allowing it, before returning his gaze to Iskata.
