where there was once nothing

Firefly had departed from the packlands again and this time she'd went further across the lands than she had in a while. The extra weight that was carrying around her midsection made her snarl with every step as she was reminded of what was to come. She had been following a strange scent that reminded her slightly of Phoenix Valley and yet had nothing to do with the pack as well. Horses. She had been well aquainted with the scent once and now it was just another fading memory. The girl was rather curious as to what horses were doing around the lands, she figured they would be wild but she hadn't ever seen a wild horse along the lands except for the ones that her mother's pack had somehow pulled into the corral and they were still running circles in the meadows even now. Firefly wasn't even sure that the horses were tamed yet though she knew her mother had some hairbrained idea to tame the beasts.. she shook her head at the thoughts and sighed at the weighty reminded that was making her motions alittle less elegant than normal.

She paused at the barbed wire fence and stared through to the dead meadow beyond where snow seemed to cover most of the world and where there wasn't snow it seemed that a few random stocks of grass were pushing through. Lifting her nose to the air she caught the stale scent again, but thistime with wolves. She was rather curious as to what she'd found here at this old barrier into another's lands. Someone new had come out to play and she didn't think she'd even heard nor seen these strangers yet. Her interest was peaked and she wanted to know what was beyond the border.. no matter how bleak and boring a snow covered meadow may appear.
