where there was once nothing

This is crap, sorry. Need to get into this again!

The female was not offended, it seemed, nothing in her attitude changed to speak of annoyance. Instead, she seemed to maintain her mood, although not quite as teasing as she had been. Dawali had by now relaxed quite fully, and was studying the woman's stomach with interest. So long (not long in reality, but that time felt like it was years away) since he had had small puppies to take care of himself, he truly envied the woman. When she spoke again, her voice clear and calm, his yellow orbs swung to look at her face again, studying this part of her instead as the wise words exited her mouth. Dawali nodded and smiled, and though she wasn't directly teasing now as before he thought he could still sense the underlying teasing. For a moment his eyes met the ground in thought, for he - too - hoped that would be the case. Already he had Tayui and Leland to support him, hopefully, and of course the community would be helpful whenever it was needed. There was no person he might give his heart to, but as long as his daughters lived he did not believe he needed such a person. Again the orbs swung up to meet a face decorated with creams, browns and crimsons, and now they were focused, honest, and open. So do I.

That face which he now looked on suddenly grimaced, and turned its eyes downward to the protruding ball of life on the femme's stomach. She growled, obviously not happy with their kicks, which apparently could be very uncomfortable, and Dawali was happy to bring the conversation onto a different subject than himself; children. Hehe, they'll have plenty to say as soon as their eyes catch some sunlight too, I'll bet. The male smiled, his eyes smiling along with his mouth. Hardly anything delighted him more than children.
