The world was winter white and Pepe blended in perfectly when he was outside. The white male had spent a lot of his time exploring Phoenix Valley and learning a strange new way of life. He had spent the last two nights exclusively in the barn learning how to take care of the cattle. The concept of keeping domestic animals really fascinated him. He still found it hard to believe that the cows weren't for hunting. As a predator by nature, it was very strange to care for the herd of cattle instead to hunt it down. But he was getting very good at herding and corraling them into the barn and milking them. Whenever he got tired, he just slept in the loft of the barn. He wanted to be useful to his new pack and the white man was a dedicated creature. Whenever he tried to learn something, he immersed himself 100%.

But the white man really missed seeing Iskata. He had tried to give her some space since the pack meeting. She had seemed really shaken up. He figured that his mom needed her breathing room, although he still popped in every few days to check up on her and visit her. He was coming to really love his mom's youngest puppy, Zana. She was a little sweetheart.

He was in lupus form when he got to the cottage, so he couldn't knock on the door very well. He pawed and scratched at it and waited for a minute to let Iskata know someone was there then he went in. He pushed the door open and walked in. A terrible smell reached his nose and he nearly choked. Something alarming and wrong was going on and it took a minute for his mind to register what was going on. "Iskata?" he called and looked around. His ocean blue eyes widened when he saw the fireplace. "Zana! ZANA!"

The male rushed forward headfirst into the fireplace. Flames licked at his fur and around his eyes. He had to close his eyes against the heat, but he reached for Zana with his jaws, not particular about what part of her he grabbed before he yanked her out of the fire. He shook his head to clear his nose of smoke, putting the babe on the floor as carefully as possible in his rush. He looked around for the first thing he could find, panic stricken, and tore a pillow throw blanket from the couch, covering Zana to smother any flames on her small body.
