__Out of character speech.

The white man gingerly lifted the blanket from Zana's tiny body. He really didn't know what to expect as he unveiled her, hoping that the damage wouldn't be permanent or horrific. He just couldn't imagine the pain that young girl had gone through. His heart pounded in his chest. Iskata's sobs fueled his discomfort and uncertainty. Zana's screams had quieted to whimpers, which he supposed was good, but still everything wasn't right, and listening to Iskata's heart-breaking sobs he doubted it would be a long time before things were okay again.

The damage to the puppy wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. He exhaled a thankful sigh. He didn't think the damage would be permanent, although it would need attention soon. It would need to be kept clean. And the babe was obviously still uncomfortable. She tried to squirm out of his grasp and he didn't blame her. She was obviously confused and scared. He took her gently and turned her over onto her stomach to keep her from scraping up the worst of the damage.

"Iskata," he called over her wailing. He tried to keep his voice gentle. "Everything is okay. Zana is going to be okay." He took the small struggling girl's scruff into his mouth and carried her over toward Iskata. It might scare her to be so close to the silvery gold woman but he needed to make sure she was okay too. On top of that, he also needed her help. He had no idea how to help the tiny girl. He needed Iskata calm and focused. He needed her advice. He needed someone that was for sure.

He walked over to the blind woman and bumped his flanks against her side. He put his neck close to her nose, to let her breathe his scent and let her know that he was here and that he'd take care of her as much as he was able. He bumped against her a few more times, inching her toward the door. He used his bulk to push her in that direction and headed out the door. He wouldn't leave Zana alone or put her down.

He took the little girl outside, down the steps of the porch and settled her blistered body into the snow. He didn't know much about burn wounds. But he knew that it would help if her burns were kept cold and clean. The snow provided the opportunity for relief and cleanliness until someone more qualified could help the little one. "It is gonna be okay, Zana. I'll take care of you. Nothing will happen to you." He wasn't sure if the little girl could understand him. He kept his voice gentle and cajoling. He wanted her to be as calm as possible. He nuzzled her very gently and moved to stand over her, so that her body on the ground was just under his chest between his front legs. It was snowing lightly and he wanted to shelter her as much as possible.

He turned his attention toward the door of the house. "Iskata, I need your help for Zana. She's been burned. I don't know how to take care of her. Do you know someone who can help her? Can you?" He kept the pitch of his voice low and soothing as he could. He needed Iskata. He wasn't one to panic but he didn't know what more he could do yet.
