on thin ice(P)

P. Haku. I fail ♥ And couldn't think of a title. haha.

The indigo ice was the strangest, most extraordinary occurrence in nature that Geneva had ever seen before. She trailed it as she walked on the damp, soggy ground beneath the stream. It wasn't the most magnificent stream she'd ever seen, but it looked deep enough to be formidable. She had sought this land for possible game, wanting to fill the larders at Haven Mansion, but now she found herself otherwise preoccupied.

The wolfess was like a dog with a bone when she found something new, something she couldn't explain. She worried at it, looking at it from different angles. She loved to think, to ponder, to theorize. She had spent much of her childhood wondering at life's mysteries, instead of taking part in them.

And realizing this, Geneva decided to take a closer look. There was no reason she couldn't look and touch the strange phenomenon. At least the slightest bit. She'd be careful. The small wolfess ventured out gingerly, carefully calculating her steps. She felt a sense of elation when she had made it three feet across. But that elation turned to panic as the ice cracked around her like jigsaw pieces and she fell through.Oh, crap. She struggled against the current below, cursing the fact that she had exhaled all her breath out before being immersed in the cold water.
