It didn't take long before he heard the crunch of feet on the snow, becoming weary at the sound and slinking back farther into the trees. After a few moments, though, Conri could see the dark form making his way towards him and, despite how much bigger he seemed, decided that it was Salem. He stepped out from the trees just a bit, only just enough to make himself easier to see, and waited there for the form to draw closer to him. It was a surprising thing, the voice that spoke to him in return, and it only drug his heart down farther into his stomach. How could he have been so stupid to do something that would keep him away from his own children? How could he just sit back and accept the fact that he was missing precious months of their lives?

"I told you I would." He answered after a quiet moment, smiling at a boy who had grown much to fast for his father's liking. Bracing his hand against the tree which he had hidden behind, Conri dropped himself to sit on the ground, a more comfortable position and something to keep the both of them more on level.
"Things have been well?" He asked quietly, drawing his eyes across the young man in front of him. He looked well, seemed healthy, and had obviously grown. Conri could only conclude that things were well, even if his question had been one of a wider variety of things.
