a failed attempt to capsulize a feeling.

It'd been a while since he had seen her, but it wasn't for lack of trying. There were only so many ways you could stand in your tree house and craned your neck to see through the branches at your target without looking like a maniac. But that's just what he was. A maniac whose heart had been stolen by someone no more than a stranger. He'd only seen her a few times, for Christ's sake! But those few times spent with her lived on within him for hours, he mentally stretched the period of time in a way that made it seem endless. And even when he ran out of real material to think of, he made up new scenarios, and all of them ended up with the two of them tangled and entwined on his tree house floor. He was fairly level headed, especially when it came to the opposite sex – being a clumsy, helpless oaf did that to a lot of people. He usually never stuck around long enough to develop feelings for a stranger. But this had taken no time at all, just a mere glance with that gorgeous smirk she often wore.

And tonight, he was putting his plan in motion. The tree house was finally completed, the sanding and finishing completed days before. They had been blessed with a couple of days marred only by a few clouds but other than that, Eli's tree house was sanded, painted and properly finished, sitting up in its perch for the long run. He enjoyed creating structures from wood and placing them in almost familiar situations. Those branches used for support beams and the blanks for the fort's solid floor had come from a tree just like this. Now they were reunited and the two mediums blended wonderfully.

It was the evening, the sun was just settling down behind the horizon, blessing some area of land with its watery light. For now he had a plan to set in motion. He'd already taken a bath over in his favourite river and the evening's chill was actually helping with his anxiety.
He paced around his tree making last moment adjustments. A candle here and there, a good-looking display of foliage running down the ladder into the tree house which was complete with a safe fire-grill, one he'd scavenged from one of the human areas. He had a few hares cooking up now, but there were raw rodents off to the side in case Kol preferred a more traditional meal. So. Everything was taken care of, right down to the bouquet of fresh spring flowers he clasped carefully in his paw.

Eli ran his hand through the spikey, still slightly wet fur that stuck up in different directions between his ears. A deep breath was all he took to settle himself and he headed off to Kol's place of residence, an offer for dinner and stargazing on his lips.
