The blue-eyed devil’s companion was silent, and Gabriel understood her purpose as such. In this world she was nothing; there was only Gabriel and Haku. They were forced to obey the rules of war. Gabriel knew that as long as Haku remained bound by his loyalty to Cercelee (a relationship that seemed peculiar to the man) there would be no war. There would be strife, and there would be conflict, but there would be no war.
He smiled thinly, entertained by the concept. “You will find justice by my hand, Haku,” the Aquila promised through his thinly veiled threat. Flicking one ear, a dismissive motion, he continued. “Should any happen to disappear, I’ll know who to hold accountable then. As far as our truce, I’ll talk to your superior on the matter if she feels the same.” The corner of his mouth hooked back, smiling in spite of the situation. For all his flaunt and brass, Haku was bound to a woman smaller then either of them.
     “Go home. We’re finished here.”
