Kind mommies say monsters don't exist [m]

Works for me!

The predator lowered its jaws, to take her in the throat and end the battle quickly. It would not eat her. No, she was of a species with him, something which extended even to the coyotes. She wasn't young enough, however, to be food. She also wasn't old enough to be a mate. She was just an attacker, and it would deal with her in the way that Brennt couldn't: hastily and certainly. The same way it had contended with the coyote male and female. The same ruthlessness would apply, a ruthlessness that Brennt had never learned, but found inside himself the day he had eaten his mother's second litter, and then again the day Pallok had tried to kill him for devouring Hylfi's.

Still, despite its competence in defending itself, it failed to reach her throat, its teeth snapping just short of it. Instead, it was kept aloft by her forepaws, while her hind legs dug at its belly. It roared, and moved its hindquarters away from her own, protecting itself from her back paws, making their two bodies form a writhing 'L' in the sand. It lowered its jaws again and again, snapping at her face, seeking to take her eyes or rip open her snout, slash flesh with its questing fangs or sever nose...its attacks were furious and brutally powerful, and there was no respite or pause to check if it had succeeded. It was not a territorial fight, nor a skirmish for the sake of dominance. It was clearly and indisputably an effort to kill. One that would take a lot of luck and a lot of resolve to survive.
