Kind mommies say monsters don't exist [m]

The predator's blood pumped hot and strong, driving it to feral fury against the creature beneath its forepaws. Her blood lined its teeth and stained its fur, and he cry went unheard by the vicious monster. A more civilized wolf might have lessened its effort, confident in how one-sided the fight had become, pleased with its overwhelming success. Had he been fully awake himself, Brennt might have done these things, as they matched with the way he knew Pallok or Osric might have acted. But the predator knew nothing of that. An effort to kill was just that, and nothing more.

It hadn't taken long before the female had realized the seriousness of the situation, as well. Her cry had elicited no response from the beast, but her thrashings spoke its language. Its attempts to keep her where she was grew in frequency as her resistance became more frantic, but eventually, her jaws clapped onto its nose. Instinctively, it recoiled, snarling fearsomely, snorting blood from its damaged nose. It took another step backward, sneezing violently, spurting blood in a fine spray over the cool sand. It was still close by her, its teeth were still bared, its hackles still raised. She had attacked it first; this time it would launch the attack itself.
