Kind mommies say monsters don't exist [m]

This time I was thinking she'd see it coming and get out of the way/push off of him before he could pin her again?

The beast was confident that it had the fight nearly won...the smell of blood was strong, and it knew that most of that blood had come from its enemy. The fact that the girl had not retreated meant that she was ready for more, however, which conflicted with its instinct that she should want to flee after sustaining so much injury. It didn't think very deeply into the matter, however. Ideas that maybe it hadn't done as much to her as it thought it had, or that her intelligence was helping her to make smarter decisions in the battle, did not cross its mind. No, only the fact that she should be running, and the fact that she wasn't meant that it needed to fight that much harder.

The previous attack had taken a lot of energy, and while it had been rewarded for the effort by the wounds across her face and neck and shoulders, it had to cope with the fact that she was not yet down, and that it needed to have enough stamina to finish the battle. Someone could not attempt to steal a kill and take the field, lest they have the confidence to try it again for the next kill. The predator's next attack would need to be more conservative, more precise and less furious. Indeed, it sought for her throat upon its charge, seeking again to take victory quickly and effectively. Her own efforts to find its vulnerable neck foiled this effort, and their jaws met in the middle, pointed fangs scraping across yielding flesh.

The monster felt the radiating pain as her paws, nails digging against its shoulders, gave her added elevation, and brought her snout above his, where it was able to more effectively maim its face. It reared up as well, having the mass and reserves of strength necessary to push up despite her added weight, and meet her again face to face, jaws against jaws, and each with their claws digging into the other. The blood of each drained down their faces, but given another few moments of pushing against one-another's propped-up bodies, the predator would be able to use its weight to push her to the ground again.
