Cwmfen wasn’t sure how to handle this bundle of energy. As she had lain to match the height of the little girl, she had simply wagged her tail excitedly. The woman wondered what made the small creature so excited, and she couldn’t help but allow a smile grace her maw. While pups were usually not creatures with which the woman associated, this little one seemed fine. But she doubted that there would be anyone like Ezekiel, the young Inferni prince. That was not to say that this Catharsis was not a pleasure. For a moment, however, the woman was reminded of the sibling, Avarice, and of how she had tried to attack Brennt; such a thing had caused her the wound upon her back and the proper position with which to attack the predator. But she couldn’t necessarily blame the pup; she had been too young to understand the danger that Brennt had posed. At least it had been she who had paid that price and not the little pup. But this situation with Catharsis was not related to any sort of danger, which, of course, was a relief.

A light smile danced upon her maw as the girl spoke again. "You have a pretty name too—Catharsis is a wonderful thing." The alto melody did not give an empty compliment; she truly believed that the girl’s name was a beautiful one. Catharsis.... the purging, a cleansing. She wondered if, as many said, a name could define a person. It had often been believed that this concept were true, and many parents had been careful in the naming. Sometimes names were switched, especially with truly identical twins, and such a thing actually changed their personality. For a woman who did not believe in coincidence, she believed that this concept must be true. The white orbs considered the pup, peering gently into those dual coloured eyes. Perhaps this pup, graced with such a name, would be able to purge even the soul of others. Perhaps this pup was meant for a peaceful path. For this reason, the warrior decided to stay in the presence of this pup, to remain in her life and become one of her mentors. Whether Catharsis would become a warrior or not, and the warrior herself hoped that she would not, there was much that could be learned. She did not want this pup to be tainted by the blackness of another.

The Adonis was relieved when the pup did not grow discouraged by her lack of understanding. The white orbs followed the sudden leap from laying to standing, amazed that the pup could do such a thing. It was understood then, with the re-explanation of the pup, that it was the woad upon her fur that was desired. For a moment the black fae considered the markings upon her body. She was a creature of formality, of discipline. These markings were given to her by her mother, and these markings were worn by those who followed the warrior’s path. Slowly, the woman turned back to the pup. "I’m sorry, but I cannot give these to you." The alto melody did not try to divert the pups attention with half-truths and lies. She was a creature who followed martial custom, and she could not disrespect such customs as so many did. "These are for the warriors of my homeland. It would not be proper for any other to wear them." She hoped that the girl would not be disappointed, and she hoped that it was understood, that she would know what was ‘proper’.
