___ The tone of her words did not change, but Apollo hadn’t expected it to. He wasn’t sure why, but it was hard for him to keep a straight face. The threat of chuckling loomed near, but he was able to suppress any laughter. Perhaps it was the girl’s small stature that really got him; she seemed to think she was so tough. He was sure he could take her, with or without his preferred knife. "I want to know whether or not he still lives here," Apollo replied bluntly, searching her face for some sort of clue. He couldn’t tell by her words if she did or didn’t know him, but why would she say ‘a member of the clan’ had Sirius not been living there? He was sure he could feel his pulse quicken beneath the soft ivory fur. |
