Lillith was a considerate woman indeed. She had chosen him as her partner in crime, her right hand man. He was now the object of her infatuation, just like Ahren had been. She’d known right from the start, from the instant she’d first laid eyes on him as a mere child, that he would eventually be hers. What a fool that Colibri was; blind woman, so easily manipulated. Her precious little boy would live and die by Lillith’s side, such was his fate. The madwoman would forge him into a supreme being; better, faster, stronger than he already was. She didn’t know why he trusted her so completely but the feeling was mutual; her behavior said as much.

She did not retract her hand from his neck, enjoying the feel of his fur underneath her fingertips. The way he purred and shivered under her touch allowed her to feel in control of the situation, and it drove her wild with excitement. This night would be unforgettable. She moved forward, inching closer to his left ear, until she was close enough to ask a question of extreme importance. This was a turning point for them; his answer would determine whether she’d include him in her plans or discard him as useless. She anticipated his answer, although she had a faint idea of what it would be. “How far would you go,” she started, proceeding nonetheless. Salmon-colored tongue slithered out to caress his chocolate ear. “to make me happy.”
