hover through the fog and filthy air

Haku was generally hard to manipulate properly. It was far from impossible if one knew his weak and arrogant points, but this method of manipulation that Lillith had known and used in the past did not work with Haku. She intrigued him, but he was who he was, an arrogant bastard that saw himself as the centre of the world. He would not lift a finger for anyone else if he did not see anything in store for himself for doing it. Lillith was supposed to idolize him, not the opposite. After all she was merely a female, though she was more than that because she had not given herself to him. Haku had made many mistakes in the past where he had mixed worthlessness with worthiness. It was possible that he severely underestimated her, but it could not be helped. He had learned that females were only good for temporary entertainment and physical pleasures. This was not to say that she was nothing more than just that to him, but she too would have to prove herself to him before he could come even close to the word trust.

He registered a reaction from her that he had not expected. Although he wanted to draw back to gaze upon her face to investigate this further, he stayed still and felt her breath tickle the sensitive area around his ear. It was important for her to understand this at once though before she risked getting burned: he was not and would never be her dog. When the time had passed and the tension was out of her body, she revealed that there was a sinner nearby. Those blue orbs sought out her form as she withdrew from him to reveal a vial of eucalyptus. He had recognized the scent, almost completely masking out her natural scent. He could detect now in her immediate presence, but only a sharp trace of eucalyptus would remain after the woman was gone. It was a marvellous idea. A light, yet unpleasant smile lingered on his lips, because this flask would allow him to play safely without risking the rise of a mob on the borders of Dahlia de Mai. Oh, she was beautiful, this female.

She extended the substance to him, and the man started shifting to optime. He had actually expected her fingers to mix the liquid into his fur, but perhaps he expected too much from her just as she perhaps expected too much of him. They were two demons without superiors, and they would need time to adjust to one another and learn to treat each other as equals. It did not take long at all to rise up on two feet in his optime form. The man’s physical control over his body also affected the time it took to shift, greatly decreasing it. He took the vial from her and tossed drops all over and rubbed them harshly into his chocolate and cream fur. The strong scent already stung in his nostrils, but he knew that that little discomfort would be worth it. The empty vial was thrown on the floor, and he quickly started to change back to the secui, determined to do this deed in his preferred form. It felt more right this way.

Although his eye colour was the warmest of blue one could imagine, there was no warmth left in them when he after the shift gazed up at her and smiled that horrible smile. ”Ladies first.” he offered, impatient to punish the sinner. Was she aware that both of them were far worse creatures than her sinner could possibly be? Haku certainly was, and he loved how incredibly wrong this was.
