“No, no! Think maybe would be better if I pull on your head Noir,” he asserted stubbornly, not really taking the time to evaluate his options. His niece was stuck and it was his job, as her favorite uncle, to get her out of there. That’s what family was for. He would make things better, just like Cambria had made things better by kissing his injury. He didn’t think a simple kiss would fix this problem though. Everything was complicated with his sandy-colored niece; she had a habit of landing herself in the oddest situations. What was she talking about with her roof thing? There was no roof on this box! Maybe she was imagining things; he assumed stress could make people go cuckoo.

“Now you know, people with big heads can’t go in small boxes, you know?” he explained as he took a few steps forward, ready to yank her out of there. Someone else entered the scene then; a male he’d never seen before. Honoré stared at him suspiciously, his mouth agape with surprise. Luckily for Noir, her uncle’s attention was focused entirely on the newcomer. Whoever this male was, he seemed to know his niece well. Was he a friend of Tayui’s? Noir’s dad, maybe? The Québécois felt a pang of jealousy at that thought, not really appreciating the idea of competing with another male for the child’s affection. “I think duck put her in there,” he offered, hoping to unravel the Noir-in-the-box mystery. Playing detective sure wasn’t easy.
