     He had expected anger. He had expected her to react much differently then she had. Instead, she hit the ground and her eyes became hollow. She was no doubt destroyed; at least in some small, terrible way. Gabriel wondered if he should have felt something for her, but found he did not. After all, it had been she who had walked into fire. Perhaps her soul would be cleansed by it.
     Silent, still, Gabriel did not show any emotion until the word wolf passed her lips. Despite his blood, his lips pulled back and revealed two rows of vicious, off-white teeth. “I am not a wolf,” he hissed, eyes now bright and burning. “And it would do you well to remember that.” So suddenly had the resentment come that he barely remembered she had asked for his name. “I am Inferni’s Aquila—Gabriel. Now I would suggest you go home before someone else finds you here.” With that, he turned and stalked off into the field, vanishing soon into the mostly weighted down tall grass.
