Over a short period of time, Alexey had grown accustomed to supporting herself, as well as two adolescent boys. She had unexpectedly become an independent woman and a single mother, which undoubtedly drained most of her time and energy. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, though! It made her feel accomplished, giving her the impression that she was indeed worthy of her rank. The kids under her care weren’t of her own flesh and blood, but she considered them as such nonetheless. After all, it was she who provided them with food and shelter! In a way, the Lilium had willingly renounced to all of his rights as their father. Emwe and Conor seemed unfazed though, for the chocolate male’s bouts of insanity had wounded them both physically and emotionally. Although Alexey did her best to fill the void in their hearts, things weren’t all roses and butterflies. Recently, she’d notified Conor that they could no longer sleep in the same bed. The boy’s reaction, paired with his lavender-eyed innocence, had left her feeling like a monster. Hurting him had never been her intention, but boundaries had to be instilled. She could only hope he’d find it in his heart to forgive her. Dahlia de Mai’s Caregiver could not be caught sleeping with one of her foster children, no matter how pure her intentions were.

Rare were the times when she found herself so close to the borders. She did not have the strength or personality to forcefully remove trespassers. Should anyone ever become hostile in her presence, there was no doubt as to who would vanquish the other; hence why the Lilium and the Adonis normally handled border duty. Unfortunately, due to recent circumstances, Cwmfen would be unable to do so for the weeks to come. Motherhood beckoned her home where she belonged. As for Haku, if the rumors circulating were any substantial proof, most of his time was spent out of the pack lands with some strange female. With two out of three leaders unavailable, Lexey took it upon herself to help out. She’d spent a considerable amount of time scouting the borders, but nothing could have prepared her for the scent that suddenly infiltrated her nostrils. Visual confirmation came shortly thereafter. The Koios girl froze in her tracks, unsure of what to do. Her mind was a blur, she couldn't think properly, but she did note the coyote’s ragged breathing and restlessness. What the hell was going on? “Don’t.” she finally said, keeping a reasonable distance between the two of them. She was doing this for her safety as well as his. Haku would not hesitate to trigger a war over something as trivial as this coyote’s proximity to Dahlian borders.
