Someday Never Comes

Do ya want to wrap this up soon? We don’t have to or anything, just checking in and stuff.

_____ His brother and twin did seem to be a bit wayward. He and Ember were the more relaxed of the four, but Kansas certainly accepted all of his littermates. Sure, Icarus and Firefly could be troublesome at times, but he loved them for that. He admired their curiosity and spunk, the way they were keen to try new things. In a sense, he was even envious. But his slightly more-advanced cautiousness would always deter him for doing extreme things on his own – although, he was planning on leaving the safety of Storm someday soon, just to see what lay beyond its borders. However, he wouldn’t ever be able to come up with more colossal things to try out; he would just do the things Firefly persuaded him to do - which really didn't seem too hard for her.

_____ He loved his pack and his family dearly, and didn’t have any plans to strike out on his own. That wasn’t to say Kansas had his whole life planned out at such an early age – but he knew that now he was comfortable with where he was. His father was right in that regard. The boy slowed down and, as his father sang, let his eyes wander over the autumn leaves, fantasies of finding a villain hidden in the brush playing through his mind as did the music. He looked up at Phoenix when he’d finished the song, still grinning from ear to ear. “Yeah, teach me! Someday, I wanna know how t’do all the stuffs you can, Papa,” he said in a his mystified child’s voice.
