This post is definitely going to stink. D:

The wolf was quite happy to be back in the young wolf's presence. She had gotten bigger, and her growing again reminded him of his dead sister. He had missed her terribly when she'd first passed, and now the ache for her presence was only a faint pain in his heart. Still, he thought of Soare often, and he did associate many young girls with her, a need to protect and provide for them just as he had for his sickly sister overtaking anything else. Amata seemed happy to see him, and Char was glad she did not resent him for spending so long without visiting. His tail wagged, and he smiled at her. "Yup! I've got all day, too," he said with a laugh. What else would he have to do? There were no pack or family obligations for the lone wolf.

She seemed to care deeply about his fresh wounds, distress marking her creamy face. Char didn't like to see her upset, so he smiled broadly and shook his head. "No worries, Miss Amata! It could've been much worse," he said, hesitant to share the full story of what had happened with her. After all, it was pretty scary that Merit had attacked him for no reason. Char still could not wrap his head around that. "Well, I was wandering around and I found this wolf, and right after that your dad showed up. And I dunno, I guess the first wolf was mad that I started talking to your dad, so he tried to beat me up!" Now, Char's own childishness shone through; his voice increased in pitch and he spoke faster at the end of his story, distress showing in his own features.

He stopped, swallowing loudly and composing himself before continuing. "Your dad really saved my butt! He kicked the other wolf off of me," the silver wolf said. The wolf nodded at her question, standing up and stretching. He was a little wary of coming onto the pack's territory, but Kansas had practically invited him over, and Amata was escorting him, so he figured it was okay. Gingerly, he stepped toward her, still favoring the injured limb. Just as soon as she had extended her invitation she was off, the boundless energy of youth stirring her limbs.

The youngster returned with a pretty flower clutched between her puppy teeth, and she stated rather simply and quietly that it was for him! Grinning from ear to ear, the wolf leaned in to take it from her, shifting to his Optime form from his Secui as soon as he had taken it from her. It wouldn't be long before Amata herself could shift, he realized. She was bigger than when they'd first met, and growing fast. The wolf tucked it into his belt, careful to bend the stem so it wouldn't snap. "Thank you! I'll keep it forever," he said, still smiling. Flowers didn't last forever, no—but he'd keep it until it turned to dust, that was for sure. He was so glad that he had such a sweet young friend with a proud and brave father, and he was very happy that he knew these canines.
