And we all come tumbling down

.... Cercelee smiled at the lady, when she asked how the Rosea was but then went into her own doings and life. It was good to hear that the woman had found a home within Aniwaya, but it was also strange to know that the ex-member, one of the founding members of the pack, felt far more at home in the strange tribe than in Dahlia de Mai. Yet they were all free to come and go as they pleased, Cercelee did not bar anyone from leaving. The Rosea still knew very little of the tribal pack, except that her cousin and friend Ember has found her way over there as well and that it seemed she had taken a high position, though just how high Cercelee didn’t know. Very rarely did she leave the pack lands, and if she did it was only on official pack business, so her path crossed very little with some of her friends from before. It was a shame, but part of the life she had chosen.

....Hanna’s tale of rescuing the wolf brought to mind Shell, who had disappeared from Cer’s social circle as quickly as she had come. Cercelee did not mention her own rescue, but she smiled broadly at Hanna’s pleasure in helping others. When the sable female finally did quit speaking Cercelee opened her mouth for her own speech on what she had been up to, but she knew that she would share very little of value with the wolf. Just the most basic of everything. “I‘ve been well. Everything with Slay has been well and the pack‘s okay too.”

.... Neither was very true but true enough. Now everything with Slay was well again, but his period of depression still sometimes haunted her and the pack was under a new foreign threat, but none of the pack members had been harmed. Both issues, Cercelee was sure, Hanna might be aware of. Surely the sable female would have sought out Slay, but Cercelee would question neither of them on that, Slay was incapable of cheating on his mate so Cercelee would not waste energy worry over that. The pack’s issues were clear, for no matter how quickly Cercelee removed the traps that laced their borders, more appeared. Hanna had probably noticed those as well. “What is life in Aniwaya like?” Best to keep all topics breezy.
