| Since Kaena had unfurled Inferni's red carpet to Bram she had not stopped running, leaping, frolicking, spinning, dancing, giggling or squealing until she reached the strip of beach on the water's northern shore. The she-yote collapsed with a joyful sigh once atop a sparsely grassed sand dune overlooking the bay. Her body heaved from prolonged exertion and her tongue lolled as she smiled openly at no one in particular. Fingers and toes dug into the fine grains and served to massage away the ache that plagued them. Bramble finally sat up and briefly checked her surroundings, probably too briefly to glimpse anyone approaching from a distance. No one around, hmm. I guess Kaena really meant it when she said Inferni's numbers were recently dropping. But before she could worry anymore she realized sand had infiltrated her clothing. She tried brushing it off with no such luck. However, she refused to take her clothes off to shake out and clean them until she had a more private place to do so. An open beach was the exact opposite of a place where a modest girl could de-robe in peace. Since she was too tired to move she sprawled out in the sand again and stared upon the sky. Its sparse flock of clouds lazily roved the ancient blue. She squinted in the sunlight and hoped one of the sky sheep would pass by the sunny shepherd soon, but before any of them got a chance to do so the girl drifted to sleep. Her still body was sprawled on the dune as if she'd dropped from one of the cloud's backs and died on impact so that her limbs and tail looked quite a mess. Her left arm had gone so far as to entangle itself in a mass of tail fur, but all in all it was an extremely comfortable position for a corpse. Or a sleeping wolf. Either one worked. |
