she wasn't always so bitter

The silvery gold woman had been basking at the edge of the field where she had been eating her fill of the deer she had killed. The body still steamed in the chilly morning air as Elroy sat growling and snarling over the body as he enjoyed his breakfast. Firefly swore that the stupid kitten ate more than any puppy that she knew but she wasn't going to say anything. Just the thought of her missing boys made the meat she'd eaten sour in her gut. She flicked her tail back and forth angry at the thought before she lifted herself from the ground and walked a distance from the small kitten and the fresh kill.

Sitting in the weak sunlight she gazed up at the sky, the overcast clouds slowly drifting along, grey and uninviting as so many things seemed to be nowadays. She enjoyed the fact that Jacquez daughter had been brought to the pack but it left Firefly moody after the time she spent with the little girl and the way her father seemed to act at the spirited little bundle that had been deposited on his doorstep.

She sighed and shook her head before she turned back to the kill, knowing that Ruri and Jontae were probably hungry. She would just have to act her old self and keep her emotions buried if she was going to get through this all.
