we are what we pretend to be

Geneva's ears flicked back a little at the mention of the familiar surname, D'Angelo. Before she had further time to react, however, Ty's familiar voice entered the area. She turned her head slightly in his direction, nodding to him. She was always glad to see him. He always seemed to be in good spirits, and he was good company, as far as Geneva was concerned. And recently, with the birth of Naniko's pups, he had shown that not only was he loyal, he was also resourceful and he could think on his feet in an unfamiliar situation.

He extended a cheerful greeting, even to a stranger. Her olive eyes turned back to the large dark-colored wolf. He seemed cordial enough, but vague. She did not want to give away any unnecessary details about Naniko or her young children. She planned to be just as vague. She was very protective of her former leader and friend. Naniko was certainly a capable creature, but Geneva was always extra-careful as far as she was concerned.

And once again, her attention was diverted by another of her pack mates. Anya made herself known very clearly, introducing herself. She nodded in the woman's direction and turned her eyes back to the stranger. Her attention was sharp, but she did not feel threatened. Geneva was cautious by nature. "That is Ty," she said, gesturing toward the orange male with her muzzle. "I am Geneva. This is Phoenix Valley. And you are?"

The Savant returned to the topic at hand. "I know of those who bear the name D'Angelo," she said, though she offered no other information after that statement. "What is your purpose concerning them?"
