Vieira had been silent since her punishment yesterday morning. It tore at her brain, her emotions, and everything in between. She only spoke when spoken to and it was as short as she could make it. She made no effort to say more than she had to and did her best to avoid running into Kaena while in the cave. Most of the time she was not there and she could not feel more relief. Her punishment was over now, at least physically, and found it hard to think about anything else. When she was with her former owners, her punishments were often and hard and she lived in fear, going from one to the next. Kaena had been awkward when she was around but perhaps it was just Vieira and how her mind reacted to the punishment.

This morning, however, Vieira made sure she was awake before Kaena. She did not have instruction and simply, she sat at the opening of her room until she saw the woman starting to wake. She had been quick to attention but overlooked and the slave went about whatever business she could find. Her instructions were short and she went about the rest of the day straightening up. She had a hard time keeping her mind off it and so her tasks were repetitive, doing things twice over several times because the cave was limited on things. She moved one thing and then turned it around but only replaced it like it had been originally in case it upset Kaena. She would toss her blankets around and make them easily. She repeated the task as well in order to pass the time.

When she turned, she found a rock or two at the entrance of the room. She easily scooped them up and moved away. Her mind occupied on what she was doing in order to shut out her torture, she did not notice the scent that was ahead of her and out of the cave. It wasn't until she saw him that she stopped in her tracks, gasped, and dropped the two rocks she had been carrying. They were tiny and made a sound, but it was not overly dramatic. Vieira forgot about them and, instead, watching his form standing up ahead.
