Idly, Vieira began to put things together while Kaena spoke. She put the knife she had used on the small hand towel that had been wrapped around the pan handle of the skillet. She cleaned off the blade and set it aside, her eyes turned to the guts she had pulled out of the fish and would move them when she knew Kaena was done eating for sure. She did not want to put the rest in the pan to bury a little ways away later and then clean. Her eyes turned to the knife Kaena had used and her hand trembled at the thought of touching it and she hoped Kaena would keep it to herself.

The slave listened to the list Kaena made and nodded to make sure she knew. Blankets, candles, matches. It was an easy and short list and because she was going to the city, she decided to look for herbs for whenever they cooked again. She knew they came prepackaged for humans, she had seen them, but after a while she had her own little garden behind Astaroth's home. It would be a nice surprise, she hoped, since Kaena was fond of the meal she just prepared. Her jaw opened to tell her she could do it, but Kaena spoke again.

The woman felt a shake of her form as she was told to get a chain and collar. Vieira did not notice the tone of a joke in her voice and her expression went unnoticed because her eyes were focused on the pan in front of her. She should have known better than feel too comfortable, this happened the other day when she'd gotten in trouble for sleeping too late. Her muscles were tense and her breath was slow, trying to hold herself together, and she nodded her head again and in all seriousness finally responded with a, "yes, ma'am."
