The ashen-furred canine tilted her head curiously when Vieira seemed to stiffen at the joke rather than laugh, and disappointment flooded her, though she made an effort not to show it. The other canine did not meet her eyes when she spoke, and the hybrid thought perhaps she'd missed the grin, though she thought her lighter tone was indicative enough of a jest rather than seriousness. Turning her head to gaze once more at the fire, away from Vieira, the hybrid sighed emphatically and watched the flames dance a moment, declining to answer the smaller canine's simple affirmative answer for a moment, considering admonishing her suddenly for continued use of the title ma'am.
"I think you should take a knife with you, too," the hybrid said, vocalizing her prior ideas. The ritual knife would be of little use except as scare value, and anyone with an eye for weaponry would look at it and know it was quite fragile. The utility knife was smaller, but it was far more effective as a weapon than the ritual dagger. "That one," the hybrid indicated, her gaze shifting back to the golden-furred canine, pointing to the black-handled knife. "Think you could at least wave it around to scare someone?" the coyote asked, rather snappishly. Her mood had soured somewhat since her joke was not so well-received, and she absently stabbed at the ground with her toe-claw, digging up a small amount of soil.
