And If I Only Could

Her mind set had not allowed for anything pleasant to pass through her thoughts, pleasant enough to allow the Dreamer to forget what had happened and to enjoy much of life’s simple things once more. It was unlike her to dwell so heavily on one certain thing, though she had not been granted with fly-away wisps for emotions and they stuck to her mind and heart. Still she was not like this, to the point where she couldn’t have a discussion with another pleasant creature without mentioning that her life was riddled with disasters and she was frightened that her lover would be stolen from her bed in the dark of night.

Now, Conor. How could Anu forget the young male who had spoken to be about the safety of Dahlia just before running into Haku and Colibri? Their conversation had been so pleasant, even if he had been stern with her, all rightfully so. Anu had been trespassing, but then she had been love struck and they had spoken of Colibri as well as his crush. Still, even the notion of the young lad could not bring a smile to her face. Anu worried for him, feared that he would not fair under the leadership of a crazed beast.

It was her moment to bring surprise to Alexey’s face, and it was apparent that Anu had struck a cord in the other female’s heart. The Dreamer listened eagerly, and was relieved that Conor was indeed safe. With her other friends from Dahlia gone, and Colibri in Crimson Dreams, Conor and now Alexey were the only wolves that she trusted there.
“Good.” Anu spoke with a slight nod of her head. The entire situation was unfortunate, and not to mention frightening beyond belief. And as the Dahlian explained Anu was happy to settled with shaken, it meant he was whole at least.

Her brows rose at the question, for she did not miss such connotations. The fey was not too young herself, or as Anu could recognize, to have birthed the young male. Though, she still did not know. Perhaps it was her son, and not the female that Conor had been wooing over during their conversations. Such topics seemed to belong to some other lifetime, but here it was being replayed in her mind and without the idea of a crazed monster and broken tails and hearts.

“He is your son?” Anu asked, letting her first assumption take hold and run with her tongue.
