Monochromatic hues of gray and blue overshadowed the world below, forming circular shapes over Halcyon Mountain and its surroundings. An ambience worthy of the land upon which she ambled, hesitating every now and then. The snow was firm underfoot, suitable for walking without much difficulty. It was cold, but not uncomfortably so. Her thick coat was well appreciated in times like these, for it kept her warm and ready to face the elements. Where she was going, temperature was the least of her worries. The forbidden lands, claimed by distant cousins of much-feared stature, concerned her most. A few over-the-shoulder glances were spared for the pack lands she hailed from, scanning for signs of the redoubtable Rosen. She did not put anything past the man, spying was a newly acquired obsession of his. He kept a close eye on the happenings of his kingdom; on her, especially. Simple border patrols were done under the monster’s supervision, regardless of her respectable rank and stature.

With Cercelee’s demotion came dire consequences. Dahlia de Mai was no safe haven anymore, not even for its own inhabitants. Coyotes could no longer tempt the monster, and they needed to know as much. Haku’s only restraint was no more; with no leash to tame the hellhound, war was eminent. Their last scuffle was no more than a year past, and the Acer had no intention of reliving the moment anytime soon. She’d picked up their scent not only at the borders, but far beyond what was acceptable. Why they insisted on testing the Rosen’s leniency, she did not know. But his patience was running thin, dangerously so. She had some friendly advice for them, for their own sake as much as Dahlia’s; they needed to stay the hell away. With intrusions of the sort, things would unmistakably blow out of proportion.

Upon arrival, Alexey halted a few feet away from Inferni’s well distinct boundaries. She planned on sticking around for quite some time, curious as to how long it would take before a coyote found her standing there.
