A flurry of razor sharp teeth came up at him, and Gabriel felt the man strike his face. It was skin deep, but a jolt of unwelcomed pain shot up his skull. He heard, distantly, the sound of combat. Samael had engaged with another wolf, but his priority was with Haku and Haku alone. That was until a sharp noise rushed into his ear. Gabriel almost instantly registered the warning in those calls, and disconnected from Haku in one motion. An orange wolf came after him, and Gabriel snapped at him in once. It was then that he realized they were fighting a losing battle—Haku’s call for assistance had not been unheard or ignored.
Knowing this, the Aquila let out his own loud cry, a deep bark that called retreat. He turned then, and fled north. Whether or not Samael realized they were going to die was something he had not considered. Haku was at his heels but the demon slowed once Gabriel broke the Dahlian borders. He ran only for a few more long, drawn out minutes before slowing. Blood dripped from his body and face, and he hurt all over. More then this, the sting of failure was deep sinking and terrible. As the doggish hybrid made his way back towards Inferni, a black coyote came up to him. Samael had been injured as well, and the same resentment clung to his being. Without a word, Gabriel continued on his way.
War was upon them.
